THE BLACKWOODS STORY

The Black Woods story begins in 1994, when we set out to become the restaurant of choice in our area. Our key to success would be in preserving the casual charm of a small town cafe while providing a level of sophistication found in upscale restaurants. With that in mind, we opened the first Black Woods in Two Harbors.

1996 saw the opening of our Proctor restaurant. There we made arrangements with the new AmericInn motel to offer a full-service banquet and conference center. Located so closely to I-35 and Spirit Mountain, word began to travel south to the Twin Cities.

In 1997, Black Woods on the Lake opened to greet guests from across the world. We soon became one of the restaurants frequently recommended when visitors to Duluth asked where to dine.

How do we know? Because we asked. Communication with our guests allows us to constantly improve our performance.

Our mission is to provide our guests with a full-service, sophisticated dining experience in a casual, friendly, neighborhood atmosphere. We strive to make everyone feel welcome.
